9th Annual Alberta Beard & Moustache Championships: Another Incredible Night for the Books

The 9th Annual Alberta Beard & Moustache Championships hit The Palomino on May 24th, and once again, this incredible community showed up in a big way.

While we had a slightly smaller crowd of spectators this year, the competitor turnout was strong, and together we raised $1,595 for the Alberta Veterans Association Food Bank. Even more than last year! We think that says a lot about the generosity of this community, and we can’t thank everyone enough for coming out to support a good cause and having a damn good time doing it.

Hosted once again with our friends at The Palomino Smokehouse, this year’s event was packed with epic beards, excellent moustaches, a great crowd, and the kind of atmosphere that makes ABMC what it is year after year. Whether you were stepping on stage, judging the competition, supporting the cause by buying raffle tickets, or cheering from the crowd, you helped make the night something special.

A massive shoutout goes to this year’s emcee, Terry Cahill. Terry is a legend and brought an incredible vibe to the show. He kept the energy up and the laughter strong all night long. Fuckin' Eh!

Huge thanks as well to:

  • Our incredible judges — Darrel Crawford, Annie Hansen, Fadi Boutano, and Cara Adu-Darko — for bringing great energy to the panel and helping make the competition both fun and fair

  • Our pals at The Palomino Smokehouse for hosting and helping bring this event to life year after year

  • Our best pal Craig at Fab Shop for once again creating this year’s killer custom medals

  • All of our amazing raffle prize sponsors, including Routine, Kent of Inglewood, The Palomino Smokehouse, Pinbar, and 88 Brewing Company

  • Our friends who were working behind the scenes to make sure the night ran smoothly

  • And every single person who came out to compete, support, volunteer, donate, and celebrate with us

And of course, the night didn’t end when the competition wrapped up. This year’s ABMC after-party kept the night rolling with live music from Buffalo Bud Buster, Bear|Horse, and Olde Ghosts. Thanks to everyone who stuck around and helped us close out the night. Huge thanks to all three bands for being part of this year’s event!

ABMC has always been about more than just facial hair. It’s about community, creativity, and good people coming together for something fun while giving back along the way. Seeing this event continue to grow and evolve year after year means the world to us.

We hope you enjoy this year's highlights and winner photos! A big thanks to Annabel for shooting this event!

See you next year.
